'Second Earth' found, 20 light years away

Scientists have discovered a warm and rocky "second Earth" circling a star, a find they believe dramatically boosts the prospects that we are not alone.

The planet is the most Earth-like ever spotted and is thought to have perfect conditions for water, an essential ingredient for life. Researchers detected the planet orbiting one of Earth's nearest stars, a cool red dwarf called Gliese 581, 20 light years away in the constellation of Libra.

Measurements of the planet's celestial path suggest it is 1½ times the size of our home planet, and orbits close to its sun, with a year of just 13 days. The planet's orbit brings it 14 times closer to its star than Earth is to the sun. But Gliese 581 burns at only 3,000C, half the temperature of our own sun, making conditions on the planet comfortable for life, with average ground temperatures estimated at 0 to 40C. Researchers claim the planet is likely to have an atmosphere. The discovery follows a three-year search for habitable planets by the European Southern Observatory at La Silla in Chile.

"We wouldn't be surprised if there is life on this planet," said Stephane Udry, an astronomer on the project at the Geneva Observatory in Switzerland.

Two years ago, the same team discovered a giant Neptune-sized planet orbiting Gliese 581. A closer look revealed the latest planetary discovery, along with a third, larger planet that orbits the star every 84 days. The planets have been named after their star, with the most earthlike called Gliese 581c. The team spotted the planet by searching the "habitable zone".

Methodology
These calculations are based on wage figures, social security contributions and working hours in 2006 for fourteen widespread professions. Uniform criteria were used with regard to work experience, age, marital status etc. The wage index was weighted by the share of each occupation in overall employment and overall income and also by gender. The figures relate to pay net of taxes and social security contributions. In calculating the 2008 update of the wage index, UBS not only took account of exchange rates and inflation, but also factored in that part of the economic growth was due to productivity improvements and was therefore passed on to employees in the form of higher pay.

Japan was done the best in the world cup, Asia proud. as far as defeat is concerned by Paraguay. However their done the best, I proud of you Japan team, my favorite country.

Paraguay-Japan: Quotes
Gerardo Martino, Paraguay coach
It was a very tight game, though I think we had a slight edge on our opponents. We showed more heart than football and, in a game like this, that's enough. Other teams need to play more football to win. That said, we’re not going to understate the value of being among the top eight teams in the world. Why did I shout? I was just blowing off steam. There’s a lot of tension and anxiety and you suffer because the players are putting in so much effort. The Japanese also worked really hard but luck was on our side. We’ve taken another step forward, but we’ve not achieved our goals yet. Let’s hope we can recover quickly and keep making history.

Takeshi Okada, Japan coach
Everything we’ve done during the tournament makes me feel really happy. This team has done Japan and all Asia proud. But, as far as today’s defeat is concerned, I accept all the responsibility. As team coach I feel as we should have done more. [Keisuke] Honda was very isolated and that was my fault. If you want to win you have to score goals.

Oscar Cardozo, Paraguay striker
It was a very difficult game because Japan have good players. We had plenty of the ball and we managed to keep a clean sheet, but we lacked a cutting edge. In the penalty shoot-out we had a slice of luck. We dedicate this victory to the whole of Paraguay; we’ve made history by qualifying.

Makoto Hasebe, Japan captain and midfielder
It’s a shame we’ve lost a game like this, because we worked really hard to reach the last 16 and we were on the verge of making history. Despite the defeat, we’ve shown the world just what Japanese football is about. Of course I’m disappointed about the result but I’m very proud of our team, which stuck together in the face of every challenge.

Lucas Barrios, Paraguay striker
To be fair we tried to play football for the whole 120 minutes, but we couldn’t find the net. What’s left at the end of the game, however, is a huge sense of joy for making the next round. It’s really pleasing to be able to make history with this squad. The team’s doing really well, we’re very united and we can go further.

Kengo Nakamura, Japan midfielder
This was my first game at a World Cup and I can only be grateful for the opportunity. I’m sorry if I failed in my mission to help my team win the match. This experience is very important for my future development, and will no doubt prove very valuable when we go to the next World Cup in four years’ time.

Seo Tai-ji (The Best Korean Artist)

Seo Tai-ji (also spelled Seo Tae-ji, born Jeong Hyeon-cheol 정현철 on February 21, 1972) is a South Korean singer and musician. As a cultural comparison, Tai-ji’s levels of popularity in Korea is analogous to the popularity of Michael Jackson in the mid-1980s.
At the age of 14, Jung Hyun-Chul (Tai-ji) participated in several amateur rock bands. In 1990, at the age of 17, he was recruited into the metal band Sinawe (시나위 pronounced shee-nah-wee). Taiji chose to drop out of school, a system that he felt did nothing but corrupt the minds of youth, and became a professional musician.

‘Seo Tai-ji & Boys’ Explode After the break up of Sinawe in 1991, Tai-ji switched gears and formed the dance group Seo Tai-ji & Boys (서태지와 아이들) with dancers Lee Ju-no (이주노) and Yang Hyeon-seok (양현석).

The introduction of the first Seo Tai-ji and Boys album announced a complete shift in the focus of popular Korean music that is still felt today. Their first single, “Nan Arayo” (난 알아요, “I Know”) was a hugely successful hit, being one of the first songs in K-Pop to meld contemporary dance sounds with urban-influenced rap lyrics.

The sound of Seo Tai-ji and Boys’ albums was constantly evolving. The first album was very dance-oriented, while the second album began to display more hard rock and heavy metal influences, but still remaining mostly a dance album. The first single from their second album, “Hayeoga” (하여가), combined heavy metal sounds with traditional sounds of the taepyeongso, a traditional Korean wind instrument.

I just came across a school photo of Koo Hara from KARA. Why did I feel compelled to post this? Because I was surprised how adorable she was. Usually, when people see photos of their favorite stars in school photos; people are shocked at how different they looked. I’m more shocked at how similar she looks. Once adorable, always adorable I suppose. No wonder she’s the favorite, well my favorite.

Adam Lambert goes all out at the Nokia Theatre stage in New York City. Once again his eye-catchingly elaborate wardrobe cannot be glossed over. Check out the little details that are needed to complete this complex look and tell us if you think it’s hot or not. Oh yes, what do you think of his spunky half-shaved do?

His female counterparts at the show, Orianthi and Allison Iraheta, have nothing on Glambert in terms of rockin’ outfits.

Adam's eye-do has graduated from the plain guy-liner to something theatrically extravagant.

Ahn So Hee, born June 27, 1992, is a Korean singer and the youngest member of the Korean group Wonder Girls.

Ahn has been potrayed as the cute member and "younger sister" of Wonder Girls by fans. Although heavily critized for amateur singing and dancing skills, Ahn is one of the most popular members due to her humor and cute faces.

Ahn became injured by falling off a motorcycle while she was filming 뜨거운 것이 좋아 (Some Like It Hot). She could not attend and perform in two performances by the Wonder Girls and a CF.

Wonder Girls released their album and started their promotion for their hit song "Tell Me". Once again, Ahn has captured fans with her catchy phrase "Oh mo nah!", a lyric in the song "Tell Me".
