Although formed only a handful of years ago, in 2004, it has been established that ayabie is a band that can't just be brushed off or ignored as "just another visual indie band.
" The mood of their music fluctuates wildly, ranging from catchy, happy tunes to heavy songs likely to inspire headbanging and a mix of everything else in between.
Despite their obviously visual-kei appearance, they're not afraid to cross genres when it comes to their music and are using it to their advantage, attracting fans not only in Japan, but now all over the world.
Ayabie was formed in the spring of 2004, made up of mostly ex-Hinawana members: Ryohei and Takehito on guitar and Intetsu on bass. Vocalist Aoi was the only new face in the lineup, having left his former band, MASK. Starting without a drummer, ayabie used support drummers until 2005.
The group held their first concert, a free one man, at Takadanobaba AREA on May 8th, at which they sold their Kagen no sakura, ame maxi-single, followed by the release of another single, Romancer, which was limited to just one thousand copies. ayabie was unstoppable from the get go and immediately started organizing tours, once of which was a joint tour with alice nine..
Not taking much of a breather, ayabie recently started their Mikazuki no kiseki tour, which will take them through to the middle of September.
ayabie is a band that just doesn't stop. Keeping up an almost constant release and performance schedule since their start, they are always giving their all to their fans across the globe and are sure to continue in that same vein through the end of the year and beyond.
