The Star News (under metro section) CHAP Goh Mei, also dubbed the Chinese Valentine’s Day, is usually associated with the throwing of mandarin oranges by single women into lakes and seas in search of a partner.
StarMetro sent out reporters to three different locations around the Klang Valley to experience first-hand the celebrations and find out the significance behind the age-old tradition.
At Taman Jaya in Petaling Jaya, a small crowd had already gathered by the lake as early as 6.30pm despite the dark skies and distant sounds of thunder and there were already some oranges floating on the lake.
